WhatsApp Free up Space: Is your WhatsApp using more storage than necessary? This could be because of forwarded messages or old media files that you shared a long time ago but no longer need. In this article, we’ll share with you some simple steps you can follow to free up storage on WhatsApp for the data that’s really important.

Ways to manage storage on WhatsApp
1- Check actual storage usage on WhatsApp
– Open WhatsApp
– Go to Settings

– Tap on Storage and data
– Click on Manage Storage
You’ll see how much space WhatsApp is using, and your chats will be sorted by size. From there, you can tap on the top chats, select multiple items (old videos, memes, forwarded media, voice notes), and then tap Delete.
2- Stop auto-downloading every photo and video
– Go to Settings

– Tap on Storage and data
– Go to media auto-download
From there, you can adjust settings like-
When using mobile data: No media
When connected to Wi-Fi: Choose only what you really need
While roaming: no media

By doing this, you can now manually select which media file you want to download.
3- Clear forwarded messages from groups
Sometimes, forwarded messages in family/friends/work groups can be very irritating. To clear these messages:
– Go to Manage Storage
– In Chats, tap a large group chat
– Filter by video or photo
– Select all and then delete

4- Auto-clean chats with disappearing messages
The disappearing messages feature helps clean up group or casual chats.
– open chat
– Tap on the name of the group or contact
– Tap on three dots and click on disappearing message
You can now set the message timer for 24 hours/7 days/90 days, and new messages will be automatically deleted after that time.
5- Clear WhatsApp Backup-
On Android (Google Drive)
– Open Google Drive app
– go to menu
– Click on Backup
– Find WhatsApp backup and then check its size
If the size is too large, turn off video backup in WhatsApp (Settings > Chats > Chat Backup)
on iPhone (iCloud)
– Go to Settings
– (your name) > iCloud
– Click on Manage Storage
Tap on WhatsApp
