The country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train will run on the Guwahati-Kolkata route, starting from January.

Indian Railways is going to give a big gift to its passengers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has officially announced that the country’s first ‘Vande Bharat Sleeper Train’ will run between Guwahati and Kolkata. Till now, Vande Bharat trains running in the country had only chair car facility, through which passengers could travel only sitting, but Railways is now introducing the facility of sleeper coach in this modern train, which will make long distance travel comfortable. Selection of this route will further strengthen connectivity between North-East and Eastern India.

According to the Railway Minister, this important service will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The sleeper version trials and all necessary tests have been completed successfully. Although the official date is yet to be announced, it is believed that this train may start between January 15 and 20, possibly on January 17 or 18. This train will become a great option for night travel between Guwahati and Kolkata. This service will prove especially beneficial for businessmen, families, students and tourists who want to have safe and time-saving travel between the two metros.

More than 800 passengers will be able to travel in this train with 16 coaches, maximum seats in three-tier AC.

Vande Bharat Sleeper has been designed on world class standards. Describing it as a big achievement, the Railway Minister said that this train will provide a modern experience to the passengers. There will be a total of 16 coaches in this train, in which full care has been taken for the facilities of the passengers. There will be 11 coaches of three-tier AC, 4 coaches of two-tier AC and 1 coach of first AC. The total passenger capacity of the train has been kept at 823. In this, 611 passengers in Three-AC, 188 passengers in Two-AC and 24 passengers in First AC will be able to enjoy the journey together.

Food will also be included in the fare, know how much you will have to shell out from first AC to third AC.

Talking about the impact on the pockets of passengers, Railways has fixed the fare according to the facilities. Vande Bharat Sleeper 3-AC fare is estimated to be around Rs 2,300 including food. At the same time, passengers will have to spend around Rs 3,000 for two-AC and around Rs 3,600 for the royal journey of first AC. In these fares, passengers will get ergonomic berths with better cushioning, which will make sleeping much easier. Apart from this, automatic doors with vestibule, better suspension and noise reduction technology will reduce the fatigue of travel.

The train will be equipped with armor system and emergency talk-back technology, will also provide relief from shocks and noise.

Railways has kept safety paramount in this train. ‘Kavach’ anti-collision system has been installed in Vande Bharat sleeper train, which is capable of preventing the collision of two trains. Along with this, emergency talk-back system is also present, through which the loco pilot can be contacted in case of emergency. The interior of the train has been made spacious and airy, with modern lighting used in it. Disinfectant technology has been used for cleaning in coaches. Its aerodynamic exterior design and automatic exterior doors make it among the most technologically advanced trains in the country.
