Russia’s strong presence in Wings India 2026, ready to give a new dimension to civil aviation in India

New Delhi : Russia is all set to make its presence felt in Asia’s largest civil aviation exhibition, Wings India 2026. This event will be held from 28 to 31 January at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. Russia will showcase new aviation technologies like its SJ-100 jet and Il-114-300 turboprop in this exhibition.

The Russian delegation led by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), which will be showcasing its capabilities in India in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Trade Mission, will present detailed scale models of the SJ-100 and Il-114-300 at the exhibition.

The event will also see an important step by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), when the model of the SJ-100 will be displayed at the HAL pavilion. This is a move to promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative, under which the SJ-100 will be produced in India.

The SJ-100, which is an upgraded version of the Sukhoi Superjet, is now suitable for the Indian market. It incorporates Russian engines and domestic Russian systems.

Another important aspect of the event is the likely signing of a contract between Russian manufacturers and Indian Flamingo Aerospace for the supply of 6 Il-114-300 turboprop aircraft. If this deal is finalized, it will be a major entry of Russian regional aircraft in the Indian commercial fleet, which will help in connecting different regions of India under the UDAN scheme.

The Il-114-300 is designed to operate on short runways and difficult terrain, and is based on modern avionics and Russian-made engines, making it an ideal choice for Indian airlines.

During the event, a live flight demonstration will also be conducted, showcasing the maneuverability and performance of the SJ-100 and Il-114-300.

Wings India 2026 is expected to have delegations from more than 25 countries, which will also include ministry level representatives. This event can prove to be a milestone for India-Russia civil aviation cooperation, which is now also playing an important role in civil aviation manufacturing and connectivity.

With India’s growing airport infrastructure and the pursuit of new routes, demand for efficient regional jets and reliable turboprops is at an all-time high.
