Tremendous enthusiasm among Delhiites on New Year: Huge crowd from India Gate to Connaught Place, around 25 thousand people reached the zoo.
On the first day of the New Year, the enthusiasm of the people is clearly visible on the streets of Delhi. Due to huge crowd gathering in different areas of the capital, the pressure on the traffic system has increased. Long queues of tourists were seen at Delhi Zoo since morning, where 20 to 25 thousand people are expected to reach at this time. A huge crowd of devotees has gathered at other religious places including Hanuman Temple located in Connaught Place. Due to people coming for worship, the speed of vehicles on the nearby roads has stopped.
The number of people who came to celebrate the New Year at India Gate is also very high. People are seen getting photographed and spending time with family and friends, due to which the police have to put in extra effort to manage security and traffic.
To celebrate the New Year, people are in the mood to come out of their homes, roam around and party. For this reason, there is heavy crowd and jam situation in many major areas of Delhi. The administration has appealed to the people to check the traffic updates before traveling and use alternative routes.
