Mumbai:Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole has recently compared Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram. On the question of Rahul Gandhi not going to Ram temple, Patole said that the Congress party is doing the work of Lord Ram. He said that our leader Rahul Gandhi is doing the work of Lord Shri Ram. You know that Lord Shri Ram always worked for the downtrodden, the oppressed and the deprived. Rahul Gandhi is also doing the same work across the country. His fight to provide justice to the people of the country has begun.
Patole also said that when Ramlala was closed, our late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had ordered to open the gate. He also added that when Rahul Gandhi comes to Ayodhya, he will worship Ramlala.
Comparison of Rahul Gandhi with Ram
Nana Patole has already faced criticism for comparing Rahul Gandhi with a Hindu god. During Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in October 2022, Patole had said that the names of Lord Ram and Rahul Gandhi both start with R and people comparing Rahul Gandhi’s Padyatra with Ram’s Padyatra can consider it a coincidence.
Patole said that Lord Shri Ram had also gone on foot from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Shankaracharya had also walked on the same path, and Rahul Gandhi is also walking on foot and meeting people across the country. This comparison is not with Lord Ram, but a coincidence. He also said that the Congress party does not directly compare Rahul Gandhi with Lord Ram. “God is God, and Rahul Gandhi is a human being. He is working for humanity and the country can see that his actions are for the society.”
BJP’s reaction
BJP reacted strongly to this statement of Nana Patole. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan on Thursday called it a serious insult to Hindu sentiments. He said that Nana Patole compared Lord Ram with Rahul Gandhi, which is insulting to the faith and sentiments of crores of Hindu devotees. This comment is condemnable and cannot be defended.
BJP also raised the question whether Patole will ask Rahul Gandhi why he made fun of the consecration ceremony and other religious events and why he has not yet visited Ayodhya Ram temple.
