‘Fundamentalists burnt him alive, saved his life by jumping into the pond’, horrifying story of Hindu attack in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Burn Hindu Man: A horrific attack has taken place on another Hindu man in Shariatpur district of Bangladesh. According to the police, the attackers poured petrol on 50-year-old businessman Khokan Chandra Das and set him on fire. After the incident, tension has spread in the area and the police is searching for the accused. This is the fourth incident against the Hindu community in Bangladesh in the last 12 days.
The victim, Hindu businessman Khokon Chandra Das, was returning home after closing his shop when he was suddenly attacked. The attackers cut him with sharp weapons and then poured petrol on his head and face and set him on fire. The question arises that why was an innocent person targeted like this, when he had no dispute with anyone?
Why was Khokon Chandra Das attacked?
Seema Das, wife of Khokon Chandra Das, says that two of the attackers were known to her husband. Was this attack the result of personal rivalry, or did it happen due to some other reason? Seema says that her family was just trying to live peacefully and they did not harm anyone.
The attackers tried to burn Khokon after seriously injuring him, but Khokon saved his life by jumping into a nearby pond. Despite this, his condition is critical, and he has been referred to Dhaka Medical College.
Why are Hindus being attacked in Bangladesh?
This incident has occurred at a time when international concern is increasing over violence against minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh. Recently, India also expressed serious concern over violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. But the Bangladesh government denies these allegations and says it is committed to the protection of minorities.
A Muslim man from the village did not call the attack a communal affair and claimed that he was helping the family in every possible way. Yet, can this violence be considered just an individual incident, or is it part of a larger pattern?
