Delhi Pollution: The air of Delhi-NCR has become poisonous. Even on the first day of the year, the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi and its surrounding areas was in the very poor category. The 24-hour average AQI in Delhi has been recorded at 380. According to the Central Pollution Control Board i.e. CPCB, 11 stations were in serious category and 26 stations were in very poor category. The highest pollution was recorded at 423 in Anand Vihar.

What caused pollution?

On New Year, there was 11 percent pollution in Delhi from transport, 1.3 percent from industry and construction, 0.7 percent due to road dust and 2.9 percent due to residential sources. Gautam Buddha Nagar’s share in Delhi’s pollution was 6.6 percent, Faridabad’s 4.1 percent and Bulandshahr’s 9.8 percent share.

People of Delhi-NCR will not get respite from pollution in the coming times also. Till January 4, the air has been found to be in very poor category. Friday morning also happened with pollution. The air quality has not improved even on the second day of the year. AQI has been recorded in the very poor to severe category at many monitoring stations. The condition of Dwarka, Delhi was very dirty on Friday. The AQI here reached 307. After this, AQI was recorded at 275 in Vasundhara, 222 in Mundka, 180 in Srinivaspuri and 168 in Anand Vihar.
