America heated up on Taiwan issue, warned China, said- unilateral change is not acceptable
US Warns China Over Taiwan: The US State Department criticized China’s military activities around Taiwan and appealed to Beijing for restraint. The statement came after China conducted large-scale military exercises around Taiwan, including military actions such as missile launches and blockades. The US State Department said that these activities have unnecessarily increased regional tensions.
China says that it conducted this military exercise against Taiwan to give a strong warning to the separatist forces regarding Taiwan independence. Chinese officials called it a campaign called “Justice Mission 2025” and claimed it was necessary for regional stability. China presented this military exercise as sending a strong message against Taiwan.
Why does America protect Taiwan?
Taiwan and many members of the international community view this military exercise as a threat to regional stability. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te described this as a provocation and said that Taiwan is committed to protecting its sovereignty and enhancing its defense capability. He also said that 2026 will be an important year for Taiwan and Taiwan will be prepared to deal with any worst-case scenario.
The US has long supported strengthening Taiwan’s defense capability, even as it pursues a one-China policy. During the Trump administration, the US approved an $11 billion defense package for Taiwan, which included advanced missiles, drones and other defense systems. This move angered Beijing.
China considers Taiwan as its part
Experts believe that the Taiwan Strait has become a major center of regional tension. China considers Taiwan its part and does not rule out the possibility of using force, while the US and its allies are pushing for a peaceful solution. Apart from this, China does not like any third party interference on the Taiwan issue. This is the reason why whenever any country comes near Taiwan, China starts putting pressure in the name of military exercises.
