Pakistan Cricket Board’s failure came to light again, Gillespie made a big revelation after resigning from the post of head coach.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is often surrounded in controversies regarding its decisions. Many times such decisions are taken by the board due to which it is criticized not only in the country but also in the international cricket world. Now former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has resigned from the post of head coach of the Pakistani Test team within 8 months. Gillespie openly put forward the reasons behind this decision, in which the failure of the Pakistan Cricket Board has clearly come to the fore.
Jason Gillespie entered the world of coaching after his retirement and became the head coach of Pakistan Test team. There were a lot of expectations from him in the beginning, but within a few months the circumstances became such that he had to leave this responsibility. Gillespie recently shared his experiences while interacting with fans on the social media platform ‘X’.
PCB’s decisions are disgraceful
Gillespie clearly said that the Pakistan Cricket Board took many such decisions which did not give him respect as a head coach. He told that when assistant coach Tim Nielsen was removed from his post, there was no consultation or discussion with him about it. As a head coach, he found this behavior completely wrong. He said that he was ignored in important decisions related to the team management and coaching staff, due to which he started feeling uncomfortable and humiliated. This was the reason why he did not consider it right to continue in this role further.
Tenure lasted only eight months
Jason Gillespie’s tenure as head coach of Pakistan Test team lasted only eight months. During this period the performance of the team was also mixed. At home, Pakistan faced a 2-0 defeat in the Test series against Bangladesh, which drew a lot of criticism. However, after this the team made a spectacular comeback in the home Test series against England and won 2-1.
According to Gillespie, it was not just a matter of the assistant coach. His role in the selection process was limited and many times decisions related to the coaching staff were also taken without information. Due to this, relations between him and PCB continued to deteriorate.
Azhar Mahmood made new head
After Gillespie’s resignation, PCB appointed its former player Azhar Mahmood as the new head coach of the Test team. But after some time he was also removed from this post. This makes it clear that lack of stability still persists in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
