Uncertainty over Mustafizur Rahman’s participation in IPL 2026
New Delhi. Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s participation in IPL 2026 is not clear yet. Kolkata Knight Riders have bought him in the auction for Rs 9.20 crore, and for this, KKR co-owner Shahrukh Khan is facing a lot of criticism. Against him, former member of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Sangeet Som has called him a traitor. Som says that Shahrukh Khan should consider what India has given him and understand how he is using this money.
Sangeet Som’s comment
Sangeet Som took a dig at Shahrukh Khan and said that there are atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, and at such a time people like Shahrukh Khan should not support Bangladeshi players. He said, “I want to make it clear that traitors like Shahrukh Khan will not succeed. They will not allow Mustafizur Rahman to play in India.” His statement has further increased the debate on the referred issue.
BCCI’s reaction
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified that they are alert on the current situation and are waiting for instructions from the government. A senior BCCI official said that government permission is necessary before imposing any kind of ban on Bangladeshi players. He also said that Bangladesh is not an enemy country and Mustafizur Rahman will try to play in IPL 2026.
visa issue
However, Mustafizur’s availability in the IPL will depend on several factors. Bangladesh has to play a series against New Zealand in April. If Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refuses to give NOC, his dream of playing may remain unfulfilled. BCCI officials have said that there will be no major issues regarding visas, and confirmed that there have been no negative signals from the BCB for the NOC.
