Supporters of two MLAs clash over putting up banners in Karnataka, one youth killed in firing

A violent clash broke out between supporters of two MLAs in Karnataka’s Bellary district on Thursday. The dispute escalated so much that along with stone pelting, firing also took place. In this incident, a young man died due to bullet injury, while several people were reported injured. Seeing the situation worsening, the police had to come to the spot and take strict action.

According to the information, the whole matter started with the installation of posters and banners. Supporters of Congress MLA from Bellary City Nara Bharat Reddy and KRPP MLA from Gangavathi G Janardhana Reddy clashed with each other. Actually, Bharat Reddy’s supporters were putting up banners in the entire city regarding a program to install the statue of Maharishi Valmiki. During this time, an attempt was also made to put up a banner in front of Janardhan Reddy’s house, which was opposed by his supporters.

The matter turned into violence

Initially there was an altercation, but within some time both the parties came face to face. The dispute took a violent turn and sticks were used. After this, bricks, stones and glass bottles were also thrown. During this time, news of firing also came to light, due to which the situation became more serious.

In this violence, a 28-year-old youth named Rajashekhar was shot. After which he was immediately taken to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. It is being told that Rajasekhar was a Congress worker and he was included in the team of Bharat Reddy’s supporters who had gone to put up banners outside Janardhan Reddy’s house. There is an atmosphere of both anger and fear in the area due to this incident.

After the incident, MLA G Janardhan Reddy showed an empty cartridge and alleged that Bharat Reddy’s gunman opened fire near his house. After this statement, political rhetoric has become more intense. However, the police have not yet confirmed this allegation and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Police took charge, prohibitory orders imposed

As soon as information about the violence was received, a large number of police forces reached the spot. To control the situation, the police had to release tear gas shells. Both the sides were separated and efforts were made to restore peace in the area. As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders have been imposed in Ahambavi area of ​​Bellary city, where Janardhana Reddy’s house is located.

At present the police is investigating the entire matter seriously. CCTV footage is being scrutinized and eyewitnesses are being questioned. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and has asked them not to pay attention to any kind of rumour. The situation in Bellary is now said to be under control, but tension still persists in the area.
