IND vs NZ ODI-T20I Schedule: The beginning of the new year 2026 is not going to be easy for Team India. The month of January is bringing a tough test for the Indian ODI and T20 teams, where the strong Kiwi team of New Zealand will be on the tour of India. In this tour starting from January 11, a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20 International series will be played between the two teams. The special thing is that this entire series is taking place just before the T20 World Cup 2026, in such a situation its importance increases a lot in terms of the preparations of Team India.

The ODI series will start on January 11 from Vadodara (BCA Stadium), where the first match will be played. After this, the second ODI will be played in Rajkot on 14 January and the third and last match will be played in Indore on 18 January. All three matches will start from noon to night, with the toss starting at 1 pm and the game starting at 1:30 pm. This series in home conditions and on big grounds is considered to be the real test of the patience, strategy and bench strength of the Indian players.

After ODI, the focus will completely shift to T20 format. The first match of the five-match T20I series will be played on January 21 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The second T20 will be held in Raipur on 23 January, the third in Guwahati on 25 January, the fourth in Visakhapatnam on 28 January and the fifth and final match in Thiruvananthapuram on 31 January. All T20 matches will start at 7 pm. This series will give an important opportunity to the captain and the team management to try out combinations and find the right playing eleven before the World Cup.

If we look at the statistics, India has had the upper hand against New Zealand in ODI cricket. So far, out of 120 ODI matches played between the two teams, India has won 62 matches, while New Zealand has been successful in 52. Seven matches have been inconclusive and one match has been tied. Playing on home grounds, Team India will aim to further strengthen this record.

The series will be telecast live on Star Sports Network, while viewers on mobile and digital platforms will be able to watch live streaming of the matches through JioHotstar.

Talking about the possible team combination, after being fit in ODI, Shubman Gill can once again take over the responsibility of captaincy from India. Whereas in T20 only Suryakumar Yadav will be seen captaining. Along with experienced names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, young players can also get a chance in ODI. In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakraborty, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja will be the strength of the team. There are speculations that Bumrah and Hardik Pandya may be given rest for the ODI series. This means that before the upcoming T20 World Cup, many other bowlers can be tested in the ODI squad.

Whereas the command of New Zealand may be in the hands of Michael Bracewell. In the absence of Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, players like Glenn Phillips and Will Young can play an important role, while the Kiwi bowling attack led by Kyle Jamieson will try its best to challenge India.

Overall, this India-New Zealand series of January 2026 is not only going to be full of thrill, but will also play an important role in deciding the direction and condition of the upcoming big tournaments for Team India.
