netflix On Thursday, it officially announced that the film starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi will be available for streaming from January 2. While sharing the poster of the film on Instagram, the streamer wrote, “From the four walls of the house to the court… this journey is not one of compulsion, but of courage. Watch Haq, on Netflix from January 2…”

The story of the film is based on Shazia Bano

The story of the film revolves around Shazia Bano (Yami Gautam), who is abandoned by her husband Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi) after giving her triple talaq. After this, Shazia decides to fight not only for her honor but also for her constitutional rights as an Indian citizen and demands monthly maintenance in the court.

The story is inspired by Shah Bano case

This story is inspired by the historic Shah Bano case of 1985, which sparked a major debate in India regarding personal law and women’s rights. The film shows how Shazia’s legal struggle is not just a personal fight, but becomes a voice against religious fundamentalism and social pressure.

Amidst the courtroom drama, the film presents issues like equality, justice and dignity in a serious and balanced manner. Sheeba Chaddha and Vartika Singh have also played important roles in this film directed by Suparn S Verma.

‘Haq’ received positive response from critics

‘Haq’ received a mixed but mostly positive response from critics, especially Yami Gautam’s strong acting. However, the film could not live up to the expectations at the box office. Its lifetime net collection in India was around Rs 19.86 crore, while the worldwide gross was around Rs 29 crore, making it a commercial failure. Now with its release on Netflix, it is expected that ‘Haq’ will find an audience that prefers films with social issues and strong stories.
