The story of the fatal attack on Khokan Chandra Das in Dhaka, the family demanded security and investigation.
Dhaka : The brutal attack on Khokan Chandra Das has created a sensation in Bangladesh. The victim’s family on Friday shared the horrific story of the attack, in which Khokan Das was doused with petrol and set on fire. According to the family, Khokan was a peace-loving man and had no enmity with anyone, but still he was attacked in this manner. Khokan Chandra Das suffered 30 percent burn injuries in this attack and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka.
“The motive of the attack is not yet clear”
Khokan’s wife Seema Das told ANI that when her husband was entering the house, the mob caught hold of him, poured petrol on him and set him on fire. He is a very peace-loving person and had no quarrel with anyone, hence it is difficult to understand the reason behind the attack. Expressing deep grief over the incident, Seema said, “My husband never had enmity with anyone, and the motive of the attackers is not understood till now.”
“The victim is in critical condition after the attack.”
Talking about the seriousness of the attack, the victim’s sister Anjana Rani Das said that Khokan was hit on the head with sticks and then petrol was poured on him and he was set on fire. “The attack took place at 8:30 pm. The attackers beat him and then poured petrol on him before setting him on fire. Khokan screamed for help and tried to jump into the water, but he sustained burns,” he said.
Appeal from family and relatives: Criminals should be punished
Saurabh Das, nephew of Khokan Das, told ANI that as soon as he received information about the attack, he immediately rushed to the hospital. He said, “My uncle’s face and hands were burnt and his condition was very critical. Police have reached the spot and are investigating the matter.” Meanwhile, Prantho Das, another nephew of the victim, demanded a thorough investigation into the attack and said, “We want a thorough investigation into this attack and strict punishment to the culprits.”

The family of Khokan Chandra Das has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter from the government and police. He says that Khokan never had any enmity with anyone and this type of incident should be taken seriously. The family also said that justice should be served in this case and the culprits should be given strict punishment so that such attacks do not happen again.
The incident occurred at 8:30 pm on Wednesday night near Keurbhanga market of Kaneshwar Union, Damudya in Shariatpur district. Khokan was later rescued and taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital and then sent to Dhaka where he is undergoing treatment.
