Is ‘The Abandons’ returning for season 2? Everything we know so far

Man, that Season 1 finale of The Abandons hit hard, didn’t it? The whole Van Ness place going up in flames, Fiona and Constance’s brutal showdown, and then that shadowy figure walking out – who even survived? Fans are losing their minds online, begging for more of this wild 1850s Oregon drama with Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson going toe-to-toe like absolute bosses.

Is The Abandons Season 2 Happening?

So, straight up: as of early January 2026, Netflix hasn’t said a word about renewing The Abandons for Season 2. No green light, no cancellation – just radio silence. That’s pretty normal for Netflix though; they love waiting a month or two (sometimes longer) to crunch the numbers on views, how many people finished the season, and all that behind-the-scenes stuff.

How’s the Show Doing So Far?

It dropped on December 4, 2025, and jumped into the global Top 10 quick – peaked around #4 with about 7.3 million views and 37 million hours watched in the first week. Solid start, especially stacking up against some older heavy hitters. But for a big-budget Western like this, it wasn’t blowing the doors off compared to Netflix’s monster hits. It’s hanging in there, but the next few weeks of streaming data will probably decide everything.

What Might The Abandons Season 2 Look Like If It Happens?

If Netflix says yes, it’d probably dive right into the aftermath of that fire. Who made it out? How do the surviving Nolans and Van Ness crew pick up the pieces – or go full revenge mode? More gritty frontier life, power plays over that silver mine land, tangled relationships… Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lucas Till, all the supporting cast could return, depending on who bit the dust in the finale.

Production-wise, these big Westerns take time – filming huge outdoor sets, horses, the works. If renewed soon, maybe late 2027 for a drop? Fingers crossed.
