“If India develops, so will the neighboring countries…”, what S said about Bangladesh and foreign policy. Jaishankar?

  • India’s help to a good neighbor
  • In the wake of the tension in Bangladesh, S. Jaishankar’s clear statement
  • said…

After the death of the young leader Osman Hadi, the situation in the neighboring country has worsened. Violent protests have been going on for the past several days. Although there has been some peace since the death of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, India-Bangladesh relations have deteriorated significantly. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar recently visited Bangladesh. In an interview, the foreign minister has now made a statement about Bangladesh.

“He who does no harm, helps only”

On Friday, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar attended an event at IIT Madras in Tamil Nadu. When asked about the unrest in Bangladesh and India’s neighborhood policy, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said, “I visited Bangladesh just two days ago for the funeral of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. I have met many kinds of neighbors.” He went on to say that if a neighboring country treats you well or does not harm you, your natural inclination is to be kind to that neighbor and help them, and that is what we do as a country. “I have given the same message to Bangladesh as well,” he added. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that when you look at our neighboring countries, wherever there is good neighborliness, India invests, India helps, India cooperates.

Sri Lanka and the proof of aid in the Covid era

We were talking about covid. Most of our neighbors received the first batch of vaccines from India. He said some neighboring countries faced extraordinary stress, one notable being Sri Lanka. We actually helped them with a $4 billion package when the negotiations with the IMF were very slow.

S. Jaishankar said that when we use the word “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” so freely, what exactly is the message of that word? It means that we never consider the world as a hostile or hostile environment from which we have to defend ourselves.

How can you maximize your impact if you’re in a problem-solving situation with limited resources? This is the problem that needs to be focused on. What we try to do in Indian foreign policy and diplomacy today is precisely to address this problem, and we try to do that by leveraging our competitiveness, our strengths, leveraging other institutions and possibilities.
