Delhi’s air has become clean! GRAP-3 removed from NCR on the second day of the New Year; Know which works are now allowed

GRAP-3 Lifted From Delhi-NCR: In view of the improvement in pollution levels in Delhi-NCR today (January 2), the restrictions imposed under GRAP-3 were removed. Now only the restrictions imposed under Group 1 and 2 will continue. According to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), AQI in Delhi was recorded at 380 on January 1 and it saw improvement today (January 2).

Today, Friday (January 2) this number was recorded at 236 at 4 pm. In such a situation, in view of the improvement in AQI, it was decided to remove the restrictions of GRAP-3. Stage-3 is implemented when AQI reaches between 401 to 450.

What will change with the removal of GRAP-3?

Garbage will still not be burnt in the open in Delhi-NCR. In case of emergency, diesel generators can be run. The first stage of GRAPE is implemented above AQI 201–300, the second stage above AQI 301–400 and the fourth stage above AQI 450. GRAP-3 restrictions prevent non-essential construction and demolition activities. Stone crushing and mining operations are also closed. Advice is issued to work from home. Along with this, diesel buses coming to Delhi from other states are also banned.

What happens during GRAP-2?

It is noteworthy that when the pollution level starts increasing in Delhi, Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is implemented. The restrictions in the second phase of GRAP include daily mechanical sweeping and water sprinkling on main roads, strict inspection and dust control measures at construction sites, ban on use of diesel generators except for emergency services, additional police personnel at crowded places to reduce traffic jams, increase in parking charges to reduce private vehicles and promotion of public transport.

During this period, only electric, CNG or BS-VI standard diesel buses are allowed to enter Delhi. You are appealed to use public transport.
