Community’s Yvette Nicole Brown has spoken out, seemingly in response to the resurfaced allegations against Chevy Chase in the new CNN documentary, I’m Chevy Chase, and You’re Not. After Community director Jay Chandrashekhar spoke about the alleged racism scandal that ended with Chase getting fired, Brown clarified that she did not need anyone to speak for her.

With director Jay Chandrasekhar recalling the on-set tension surrounding an alleged racist remark from Chevy Chase, which ultimately cost him the job, Yvette Nicole Brown, the other person involved in the alleged incident, has come forward with a statement of her own.
Though Brown did not mention any names, including Chandrashekhar’s and Chase’s, she posted a substantial statement on her Instagram profile.
“These are things I’ve never spoken of publicly and perhaps never will,” Brown wrote in the post“Anyone currently speaking FOR or ABOUT me with perceived authority is speaking without EVER speaking to me about the things they claim to know about. They actually don’t really know me — at all.”
“They also have no knowledge of my relationship with anyone I’ve worked with & cannot credibly speak on any current or previous issues,” she continued, “I hate that this all had to be said. In East Cleveland speak: Keep my name out your mouth.”
She elaborated in the caption, “Beyond that truth, if I have something to say, I have NO problem saying it,” and added, “I’ve never had a problem speaking up and out with my whole chest when it is warranted or I when think it will change a wayward mind or some disgusting behavior.”
Brown further shared that her “motto” is “do your own work so you don’t become labor for others.”
Meanwhile, Chandrashekhar revealed in the documentary that Chase said something to Brown that made her storm off. The incident eventually led to Chase getting fired. He continues to insist that he did not say anything racist.
