Rani Mukerji set to join Akshay Kumar in ‘OMG 3’

The Oh My God franchise is gearing up for another big leap, and this time it comes with a casting move that has caught fans off guard.

Rani Mukerji is reportedly joining Akshay Kumar in OMG 3marking the first time the two ’90s stars will appear together on the big screen.

The film is still some distance away, but the buzz around it is already loud.

A source close to the development told pinkvilla that OMG 3 is being shaped as more than just a follow-up.

“This is easily one of the biggest castings in recent years. Oh My God is among Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises, and it’s only getting bigger with Rani Mukerji joining the film.

Her presence will add immense gravitas and freshness to the narrative,” the source said.

Akshay Kumar will once again team up with director Amit Rai, who delivered the commercially successful OMG 2.

The earlier films took on sensitive themes like blind faith and sex education, and the third part is expected to push into even tougher territory.

The project is currently in pre-production and is likely to go on floors by mid-2026.

The makers seem keen to protect the franchise’s legacy.

The source added: “Director Amit Rai has cracked a story that is bigger, more relevant, and hard-hitting than the previous instalments. Akshay was clear that OMG 3 had to scale up in every aspect, from story, emotions, to performances, and Rani coming on board has made the film even bigger.”

While plot details are being kept under wraps, OMG 3 looks set to stick to what the series does best, mixing social commentary with mainstream cinema.
