Sanjay Nirupam’s sharp reaction on comparison of Congress leader Nana Patole with Lord Ram
New Delhi. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam strongly criticized Congress leader Nana Patole’s comparison between Rahul Gandhi and Lord Ram in the Lok Sabha. He termed it a ‘ridiculous statement’ and questioned Congress’s stance towards Ram. Nirupam says that Congress has always been against Ram, and has put obstacles in the proposals related to the construction of the temple in Ayodhya.
Nirupam’s taunt: Comparison of Congress with Ravana
Looking at the conduct of the Congress party, Nirupam advised him to link him with Ravana instead of comparing him with Lord Ram. He said some people claim that their leader follows the ideals of Ram, hence he should be compared with God. Nirupam clarified that Ram’s name should not be tarnished.
Patole’s statement: Rahul Gandhi is doing the work of Lord Ram
Earlier, Nana Patole had said that Rahul Gandhi is doing the work of Lord Ram. He also mentioned that while Lord Ram worked for the exploited and the oppressed, Rahul Gandhi is fighting for justice in the country. Patole reminded that when the Ram Lalla temple was locked, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had ordered to open the doors.
Questions were raised earlier also
This is not the first time that Nana Patole has compared Rahul Gandhi to a Hindu deity. During Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo visit in October 2022, he had called this comparison a ‘coincidence’. He had said that it is only a matter of similarity of names and Congress does not compare Rahul Gandhi with Lord Ram. Describing Rahul Gandhi as a human being, he said that he is working for humanity.
Strong reaction from BJP leaders
BJP leaders reacted sharply to this statement of Patole. BJP’s CR Keshavan called it a ‘gross insult’ to Hindu sentiments and asked Nana Patole why Rahul Gandhi had not visited the Ayodhya Ram temple yet.
