Former coach of Pakistan gave a big statement on the coach of Team India

New Delhi: Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie, while recently replying to a post on social media, clearly said ‘no’ to Gautam Gambhir as the Indian head coach. Gillespie said in his reply that he is not interested in this role, after which discussions regarding his answer have intensified in the cricket world.
Decision to resign in seven months
Gillespie’s international coaching experience, which he gained with an ICC full member country, shows that this has been a challenging time for him. He was appointed coach of the Pakistan men’s team in 2024, but he resigned in November 2024, after which Aaqib Javed took over the responsibility. Gillespie has also highlighted his experience with Pakistan and the reasons for his resignation.
Increasing pressure on Gautam Gambhir
In recent times, India’s Test coach Gautam Gambhir has been under constant pressure, especially after the defeats at home against New Zealand and South Africa. Some time ago, there was talk of BCCI making VVS Laxman the head coach, but Laxman also rejected this proposal.
Answer to user’s question
A user on ‘X’ directly asked Gillespie if he would consider coaching India. The user wrote, “Jason, India need coaching as they are continuously losing, some home matches have even been white washed.” Without hesitation, Gillespie responded with two words: “No thanks.”
Reputation as a red-ball coach
Despite the challenges faced in Pakistan, Gillespie may be cautious about taking on a more prominent role in the subcontinent. Despite turning down the responsibility of coaching India, Gillespie is widely respected as a red-ball coach. His experience in county cricket with Yorkshire and Sussex has kept him in constant demand.
