Photos of pregnant women changed from Aam Aadmi Clinics, free checkup and ultrasound given to thousands in four months
Punjab News: The protocol-driven pregnancy care model launched by the state government through Aam Aadmi Clinics to strengthen health services for pregnant women in Punjab is now showing impact at the ground level. Under this initiative, more than 10 thousand pregnant women have availed free ultrasound services in the last four months, while about 20 thousand women are getting regular pregnancy check-ups done from Aam Aadmi Clinics every month.
What is the purpose of government?
The state government has strengthened primary health services with the aim of providing better care to mothers and newborn babies. According to government data, earlier a large number of women in the state were not able to get prenatal checkups done on time and this also affected the maternal mortality rate. Keeping this challenge in mind, pregnancy care has been made accessible and organized through a network of common man clinics.
Therefore special protocol was implemented
About 4.3 lakh deliveries take place every year in Punjab. In such a situation, testing, regular monitoring and timely referral in the early stages of pregnancy is very important. In the last few years, 881 Aam Aadmi clinics have been established in the state, where thousands of patients are coming for treatment every day. Using this framework, a special protocol has been implemented for pregnant women.
This important investigation is being done
Under this system, important tests like blood test, sugar, thyroid, hemoglobin, HIV and syphilis screening are being done in the common man clinics. In case of need of ultrasound, women are being given the facility of free examination in private diagnostic centers included in the government list, due to which they are getting financial relief.
Better health care will be available near home
According to the Health Department, every month about 5 thousand women are being identified as having high-risk pregnancies and are being referred to higher medical institutions on time. The government says that with this initiative, women are getting better and reliable health services close to their homes and in the coming time, this will lead to further improvement in maternal and child health indicators.
