According to reports, Rani Mukerji joins Akshay Kumar in OMG 3
There is a lot of buzz in Bollywood about *Oh My God 3* (OMG 3), according to reports **Rani Mukherjee** has joined **Akshay Kumar** in the third installment of this popular social-drama franchise. This marks the first time these two icons of the 90s are coming together on screen, in what is being described as one of the biggest casting moves in recent years.
According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla dated January 2, 2026, a source revealed: “Oh My God is one of Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises, and it’s getting even bigger with Rani Mukherjee joining the film. Her presence will bring a lot of gravitas and freshness to the story.” This association increases the scale of the project, combining Akshay’s God’s messenger role with Rani’s powerful emotional depth.
Director **Amit Rai**, who returns after the critically acclaimed *OMG 2*, has created a story that is “bigger, more relevant and impactful” than his previous films, which dealt with issues like superstition and sex education. Akshay emphasized on taking the story, emotions and performance to a bigger level.
The film is currently in pre-production, and shooting is expected to begin in mid-2026. No release date or further story details have been confirmed yet.
The *OMG* series is a mix of entertainment as well as sharp social commentary: the 2012 original starred Paresh Rawal (as Akshay Krishna) taking on God, while *OMG 2* (2023) starred Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.
Meanwhile, Rani Mukherjee’s last film was the critically acclaimed *Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway* (2023); She will be next seen in *Mardaani 3* (2026). Akshay has several projects in the pipeline, including comedy films with Anees Bazmee.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the official confirmation of this long-awaited pairing.
