Salman Agha, Mike Hesson Take New Roles with Multan Sultans

The reigning T20I captain of Pakistan Salman Agha and the head coach Mike Hesson are both set to take charge of the Multan Sultans franchise as part of a well-planned reorganization in the coming PSL 2026 season. A source has reported that the Sultans franchise has also appointed Aaqib Javed as the new head of cricket affairs.

In the previous season, the Multan Sultans, with Mohammed Rizwan as captain, placed last, winning only one match, and losing nine out of ten games in the PSL 2025 last year’s standings.

Salman Agha has taken the place of Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of the Sultans in the PSL 2026.

Salman Agha, who in early 2024 succeeded Mohammad Rizwan as the T20I captain of Pakistan, has reportedly taken over the senior wicketkeeper-batter as the captain of Multan Sultans for the next PSL 2026 season.

Not only that, but Salman will also be supported by Mike Hesson, the head coach of the national team, as the captain-coach duo of Pakistan is now expected to lead the revival of the Multan Sultans in PSL 2026.

Pakistan’s sports journalist Qadir Khawaja also reported that former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed, who had previously worked with Lahore Qalandars as a coach, will now take up the position of head of cricket affairs at the Multan Sultans franchise.

However, Salman Agha, the all-rounder, was the representative for Islamabad United team in the past. He was even the vice-captain for the team in the PSL 2025 season, helping to lead Shadab Khan as the captain.

According to the PCB president, Mohsin Naqvi, the PSL 2026 season is going to be from March 23 to May 3, and it is going to happen simultaneously with BCCI’s IPL 2026 which is going to be held in India and is the richest in terms of cash.

On the other hand, Salman Agha will be the captain of Pakistan national team working with head coach Mike Hesson in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which is going to take place next month.
