Storm in Canada…life of mother and child in danger, Indian cab driver emerged as a messiah, taken to hospital on time

Toronto. An Indian-origin cab driver in Canada emerged as a messiah for a pregnant woman. The woman gave birth to a child in the car after going through labor pain and the driver immediately took the person accompanying her and the newborn safely to the hospital. This information has been given in a news of local media. According to the news, the woman traveling in the cab was pregnant and gave birth to a child in the car itself.

In such a situation, the Indian taxi driver emerged as a savior for the couple and in this difficult situation, he took all three to the hospital safely. According to the news of ‘Global News’, Calgary taxi driver Hardeep Singh Toor received an emergency phone call late last Saturday night. The caller had told that he had to go to the hospital. Later he came to know that the woman was pregnant and she was going to give birth to a child soon.

‘CTV’ quoted Toor in its news on Thursday as saying, “There was a pregnant woman and the person accompanying her was helping her into the taxi. She was in pain.” Seeing the couple distressed, Toor immediately sensed the seriousness of the situation. “It occurred to me that I should call an ambulance… but considering the weather, I thought maybe that wouldn’t be the right decision,” Toor told CTV.

“It was clear from his body language that he didn’t have time… so I decided to drive,” he said. For Toor, the 30-minute journey to the hospital was the longest ever. Toor said his only goal was to get the couple to the hospital as quickly and safely as possible while braving minus 23 degrees Celsius, stormy weather and slippery roads, Global News reported.

However, the woman had given birth to a child in the back seat of the taxi before reaching the hospital. “I didn’t stop… and all I was thinking was to get him to the hospital as soon as possible so he could get medical help,” Toor said.

As soon as they reached the hospital, the hospital staff immediately came out and helped the couple and the newborn baby. Toor said the hospital staff told him that both mother and child were healthy. Toor, who has been driving the taxi for four years, said, “This is my first experience that I have put two people in my taxi and dropped three people out.” He described it as a “proud moment”.
