Neeraj Chopra-Sachin Yadav included in the top pool of doping monitoring, rising star got big responsibility
New Delhi: India’s legendary javelin throwers Neeraj Chopra and Sachin Yadav have been included in the registered testing pool (RTP) of the Athletes Integrity Unit (AIU), World Athletics’ anti-doping watchdog, for the first three months of this year. Two-time Olympic medalist Chopra has been a regular feature in the list, but Yadav, who finished fourth at last year’s World Championships, has made it to the list for the first time. Asian Championships silver medalist Yadav had overtaken Chopra at the World Championships, who had finished eighth due to fitness issues.
Yadav achieved his personal best by throwing the javelin 86.27 metres, leaving behind not only Chopra but also Pakistan’s current Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem. Nadeem stood at 10th place. This 26-year-old player from Uttar Pradesh is being considered as the next star of javelin throw. RTP is the highest level group of athletes at international or national level.
The players included in this list are tested without any prior notice. These players have to provide information about their whereabouts including their home address. Along with this, they also have to specify a time of 60 minutes every day during which they will be available for testing.
