Government’s strict action on grok misuse
The central government has taken strict steps against the misuse of Grok. The government has sent a letter to social media platform ‘X’ directing it to ensure immediate compliance in case of misuse of Grok and its other AI-based services. The government specifically sought reports on prevention of creation, publication and sharing of obscene, nude and sexually explicit material.
Grok’s introduction and its controversies
Grok, developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI, is an AI chatbot and assistive device. It can not only answer questions, but also create pictures. Recently, many cases of misuse of Grok have come to light, due to which people have demanded strict action from the government on this.
fake account issue
The government has specifically said in the letter that the “ooGrok AI” service is being used to present obscene pictures and videos of women in a humiliating manner. This misuse is taking place through fake accounts, which makes the problem more serious.
Questions were raised on security measures
It has been said in the letter that this is not just a problem of fake IDs, but through Grok, those women who share their photos on social media are also being targeted. In such cases, their photos are tampered with by Grok AI, which shows serious shortcomings in the security measures of the platform.
matter of compliance with law
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology informed that the Information Technology Act, 2000 and related rules are not being followed properly by your service. It is clear that strict action should be taken against these types of activities.
