BMC elections: 68 candidates of BJP led alliance elected unopposed

Mumbai, 2 January. In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Mahayuti alliance allies have won 68 seats unopposed. These include maximum 44 candidates from BJP, 22 from Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena and two from Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

44 candidates of BJP and 22 candidates of Shinde Sena were elected.

Among the 44 BJP candidates elected unopposed, the highest number are from Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation in Thane district. It is followed by Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Panvel, Bhiwandi, Dhule, Jalgaon and Ahilyanagar. BJP leaders attributed this trend to the popularity of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the successful election strategy of state unit president Ravindra Chavan.

BJP leader Keshav Upadhyay said on Friday that 68 candidates of BJP and Mahayuti have been elected unopposed across the state, which shows the growing strength of the party in urban local bodies.

Muralidhar Mohol said – The next mayor of Pune will be from our party

Union Minister and senior BJP leader Muralidhar Mohol praised this success and said that the next mayor of Pune will be from his party. Mohol said, ‘Our target was to win 125 seats, out of which we have already won two seats, so 123 seats are left. Two seats were won unopposed. This is proof of the good governance of our party.
