‘uncontested victory’ allegations of election rigging for
Haribhau Rathod made sensational allegations against Narvekar and said that Speaker Rahul Narvekar had given all his strength to ensure the unopposed victory of his brother and sister-in-law. According to Rathore, Narvekar remained present inside the election office till 5 pm on the last day of filing of nominations to put pressure on the opposition candidates.
It is alleged that the officials present there deliberately wasted time so that the opposition could not fill their forms. Rathore claimed that around 12 people were standing with him with their applications, but their forms were not accepted due to alleged pressure from Narvekar and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He sadly asked whether in today’s era people have the right to live freely and contest elections?
Claim of not accepting the form even after taking money
The controversy did not stop here, Rathod alleged that the election officials took money from the candidates but refused to accept the applications at the last moment citing crowd and technical reasons. He has demanded that the recordings of the Election Commission cameras and the CCTV footage there should be made public so that the truth can be revealed to the whole world. According to him, Narvekar was continuously threatening him and asking why he was filing nomination against him (Narvekar) and why he was getting the work done through the Chief Minister. He has also demanded immediate suspension of the election officer.
My life is in danger: Haribhau Rathod
Describing the threat to his life, former MP Haribhau Rathod said that if anything happens to him in future, the people responsible for it will be known from the CCTV footage. Rathod says that when he interrupted Narvekar and said that he was behaving like an ordinary worker instead of a speaker, Narvekar became furious. It is alleged that Narvekar threatened to snatch all the privileges of Rathore. When Rathod replied that he could even hang him, Narvekar reportedly warned him and asked why he was quarreling with him when he knew the consequences. Rathore said that such conduct does not suit a person holding a constitutional post.

Rahul Narvekar gave clarification
Amidst all these allegations, Rahul Narvekar has issued a statement in his defence. He said that he does not remember the entire incident there in detail, but the situation was that it was 5 in the evening and the nomination time was over. According to him, when he asked the officials whether they would take new forms, the officials refused saying that the deadline had passed. Narvekar alleged that when he came out, some people pressured him to do illegal things. He clarified that since he did not admit to any wrongdoing, false rumors are now being spread against him.
This entire situation is like a double-edged sword, where on one hand is the responsibility of following constitutional decorum, and on the other hand is the challenge of maintaining hold on power by using political influence; And in this tussle, impartiality is often sacrificed.
