Sunny Deol’s emotional attachment to ‘Border 2’ song Ghar Kab Aaoge

Sunny Deol’s bond with Border has always run deeper than cinema, and that emotion returned full circle with the launch of Border 2’s new song Where will you go?.

The team behind the upcoming war sequel travelled to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, to unveil the anthem at the historic Longewala–Tanot Mata Temple on Friday, January 2.

Actors Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty were joined by singer Sonu Nigam, producer Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, as BSF soldiers gathered for the special tribute.

Set against the vast desert landscape, the event turned into a heartfelt musical evening, with music composer Mithoon and lyricist Manoj Muntashir presenting the song live.

The moment blurred the line between reel-life patriotism and real-life sacrifice, as the track echoed themes of longing, duty, and homecoming.

For Sunny, the occasion struck a deeply personal chord.

Addressing the soldiers, the actor became visibly emotional while recalling how his father Dharmendra’s 1964 war film Reality shaped his own journey.

“I did Border because I watched my father’s Haqeeqat when I was very young, and it moved me deeply,” Sunny shared, adding that the experience inspired him to create films rooted in similar emotion and honesty.

He revealed that the idea eventually led him to collaborate with filmmaker JP Dutta on Border, a film he described as “close to our hearts”.

Sunny further noted that the film went on to inspire an entire generation to join the armed forces, a legacy he hopes Border 2 will continue.
