Saudi Prince refuses to visit Pakistani Army Chief
Riyadh, 2 January 2026: Due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen, a war-like situation has now been created between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The direct impact of this controversy is also visible on the politics of Pakistan. Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has categorically refused to meet Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir or any other leader, which has caused an uproar in Islamabad.
In Yemen, the UAE-backed separatist group ‘Southern Transitional Council’ (STC) has taken control of large parts of Hadramaut and Mahra provinces. Saudi Arabia has warned UAE to withdraw its forces from Yemen. The tension has increased so much that on January 1, STC did not allow the plane of Saudi officials to land at Aden airport.
According to former Pakistani Army Major Adil Raja, the Saudi Prince is extremely angry with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. The main reason for this is the visit of UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan. When the Saudis carried out an airstrike on the quantity of weapons sent by the UAE to Yemen, Shahbaz Sharif gave a grand welcome to the UAE President at the Noor Khan Airbase. This matter is bothering Saudi. Army Chief Asim Munir wanted to go to Riyadh to clarify this matter, but the Saudi Prince has refused to meet him.
Amidst this controversy, another shocking claim has come to light. Currently Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are in Dubai and are in touch with the UAE government. It is being said that Nawaz Sharif wants to put pressure on UAE President Asim Munir so that Maryam Nawaz is made the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Saudi Arabia is said to be angry with this ‘double game’ of Pakistani leaders.
