Explosive bestman Prithvi Show will now play cricket from another state Gujarati
25-year-old batsman Prithvi Shaw, who was out of the Indian team, has received No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to play for another state organization. Prithvi had sought NOC from MCA so that he could sign a contract with a new local team to progress and develop as a cricketer. MCA Secretary Abhay Harape said in this regard that the state organization appreciates Prithvi’s contribution over the years. He said, ‘Prithvi Show is an extraordinary talent and has made significant contributions to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
Prithvi has been out of the red ball team for some time but has played white ball (limited overs) cricket. However, his off-field misconduct issues have made more headlines than his performances. Prithvi said that he is grateful for the time he spent in the Mumbai team but now wants to move forward. He made his debut for Mumbai in 2017.
Prithvi was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji team last year due to poor fitness and lack of discipline. Prithvi last played for Mumbai in the final of Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Madhya Pradesh. Prithvi’s fitness and discipline were criticized not only by the administrators but also captain Shreyas, who won the Mushtaq Trophy for Mumbai, was unhappy.
Earlier, 25-year-old Prithvi had said in a letter sent to MCA that he was grateful for his time in the Mumbai team, but now he wants to move on. He made his debut for Mumbai in 2017. Prithvi said, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to MCA for providing me with valuable opportunities and incredible support while representing the Association. ‘Got a chance to play from another state’
Prithvi wrote, ‘It is a great honor and privilege to be a part of MCA and I am very grateful for the experience I got here. At this stage of my career, I have got an amazing opportunity to play professional cricket under another state organization which I feel will contribute more to my growth and development as a cricketer. Keeping this in mind, I humbly request you to grant me NOC which will enable me to officially represent the new state organization in the next local season.
Prithvi has received guidance from many big names in the cricket community. He has worked with stalwarts like Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly in the Delhi Capitals team. During his Under-19 career, Prithvi worked with Rahul Dravid and also took advice from Sachin Tendulkar, but to no avail. Prithvi was once compared with legends like Brian Lara, Sehwag and Sachin. He made and broke many records in local tournaments, but at such a young age his career is coming to an end.
