Punjab News: Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur held an important meeting to review the progress of the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) being implemented for the socio-economic well-being of the Scheduled Castes in the state. During this meeting S.C. Detailed discussions were held with senior officials of about 25 departments implementing the schemes under the sub-plan.
Benefits of welfare schemes till grassroots level
In the meeting, Dr. Baljeet Kaur discussed about the S.C. by various departments during the financial year 2025-26. Reviewed the work being done under the sub-plan. He directed the officials to speed up the utilization of schemes for which the prescribed amount has not been spent yet and to release the amount immediately, so that the benefits of government welfare schemes can reach the people at the grassroots level.
Negligence or misuse will not be tolerated
The minister clarified that S.C. The amount reserved under the sub-plan should be used only for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste community and any kind of negligence or misuse will not be tolerated. He directed various departments to provide the detailed list of beneficiaries and villages covered by their respective departments to the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, so that correct, transparent and effective utilization of the reserved funds can be ensured.
Public-friendly and innovative schemes prepared
Dr. Baljeet Kaur also stressed upon the departments to prepare new, people-friendly and innovative schemes as per the current needs of the Scheduled Caste community. He said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is continuously taking effective steps for the overall development, empowerment of Scheduled Castes and improvement in their standard of living.
Continuous review of progress of sub-plan
Minister S.C. It was also said that such a meeting would be organized again soon for continuous review of the progress of the sub-plan, so that the implementation of schemes related to Scheduled Castes can be made more smooth, timely and effective.
In this meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Vikas Pratap (IAS), S.C. Principal Secretary of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Department, the nodal department of the sub-plan, Shri V.K. Meena (IAS), Director-cum-Additional Secretary Vimmi Bhullar (IAS), Research Officer Dr. Livpreet Kaur and Kamaljeet Singh were also present.
