Ujjain: Officers lost confidence in corporation water, RO water coming from outside

Ujjain. The drinking water system of the Municipal Corporation in the religious city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh has once again come under question. In the Municipal Corporation office, cans of RO water are being brought from outside for drinking water in the chambers of the Commissioner, Mayor, Corporation Chairman and other senior officials and public representatives, while arrangements for drinking water have been made through water coolers for the general public coming to the Corporation premises. Looking at this situation, it seems clear that the Municipal Corporation does not have confidence in the cleanliness and quality of the water it is supplying. This is the reason why officers and leaders are forced to get RO water from outside.

Bad smell comes from water cooler

Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation, Ravi Rai, alleged that the water coming from the water coolers installed in the corporation premises smells bad and remains dirty. He said that this water is not potable, hence officials and public representatives are forced to get RO water from outside. The Leader of Opposition said that crores of rupees have been spent by the Municipal Corporation in the name of providing pure drinking water to the public, but the reality is that neither the general public is able to get clean water nor the officers and leaders of the Corporation themselves are able to trust that water. This is a direct waste of public money.

‘Water is tested from time to time’

On this entire matter, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal said that the Municipal Corporation makes continuous efforts to provide clean and quality drinking water to the common citizens. Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Pawan Singh said that the drinking water system, water tanks and water coolers are inspected from time to time in the Municipal Corporation. After taking cognizance of this matter, instructions will be given to the concerned officers for necessary action. This dual system of the Municipal Corporation has raised a big question on the quality and transparency of drinking water. When the corporation officials and public representatives are avoiding drinking the corporation water, it is natural to be concerned about the health of the general public.
