Indore Contaminated Water Case: High Court reprimanded Mohan Yadav government, said- this is serious negligence

New Delhi. Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday took a tough stand on the serious issue of deaths and people falling ill due to drinking contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area of ​​Indore. The division bench of Justice Dwarkadhish Bansal and Justice Rajendra Kumar Vani clearly said that this is a big negligence and people are dying because of water, which is completely wrong. The High Court directed the authorities to provide clean drinking water to the affected people regularly and to provide best medical care to all those who fell ill due to contaminated water.

The court said that Indore is a very beautiful city, its cleanliness is praised all over the country. It is the responsibility of the authorities to maintain this beauty and prestige. During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer told the court that the local people are still deprived of clean water. Hundreds of families depend on a tanker for water. On this the court asked what would happen with just one tanker? And instructions were given to send additional water tankers immediately. The court said that additional tankers should reach the area within the next 10 minutes and their photographs should be shared with the lawyers.

The court even said that whoever needs to be called, be it Collector or SDM, call him, but water tankers should reach under any circumstances. Indore Municipal Corporation told the High Court that till now 30 water tankers have been sent and 4 more tankers will be sent immediately. Along with this, the Municipal Corporation also filed a status report in the court. Actually, two public interest litigations were filed in this matter on December 31. The first petition was filed by High Court Bar Association President Ritesh Inani and the second by former councilor Mahesh Garg and Congress spokesperson Pramod Kumar Dwivedi, in which advocate Manish Yadav advocated.

In the hearing on December 31, the High Court had given interim instructions to the Municipal Corporation to provide free treatment to all the affected people and provide clean drinking water. On January 2, a status report regarding compliance with these orders was presented. A third PIL was also heard, on which the High Court has issued notices to Indore Collector Shivam Verma and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav. The next hearing on the third petition will be on January 19, while the hearing on the first two petitions has been fixed on January 6. During the hearing, advocate Manish Yadav sought to increase the compensation amount given to the families of the deceased and said that the status report mentioned only four deaths, while the actual number could be higher.
