Cold weather in many parts of the country; Fog cover in North India, snowfall in hilly areas
New Delhi : Dense fog, severe cold and severe cold wave are wreaking havoc in some parts of central India in many parts of the country. Snowfall in the Kashmir Valley and Himachal Pradesh has brought chill to the mountains and plains. According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is covering Jammu and Kashmir to Bihar and Odisha in East India.
Thick fog is seen in many parts. Due to which the visibility has reduced to less than 50 meters in many areas. Due to this low visibility, Delhi66 flights have been canceled and train speeds have also been reduced. Capital Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 17.4 degrees Celsius. There is currently no hope of relief from these weather woes until next week. The Meteorological Department had already issued a red alert for dense fog for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand continue to receive snowfall, creating a wave of excitement among tourists. In the valley, minimum temperature was recorded at minus 7.0 degree Celsius in Gulmarg, minus 6.2 degree Celsius in Pahalgam and 0.1 degree Celsius in Srinagar. The Bandipora-Gurez road which was closed due to snowfall has been reopened. Mughal Road is still closed. There has been a sudden increase in the number of tourists due to snowfall in Bhadarwah.
Cold weather increased in many areas
In Himachal Pradesh, cold wave has intensified due to snowfall and rain. The minimum temperature has dipped below freezing point in many parts of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and upper Shimla. Tabo recorded minus 6.8 degrees Celsius, Kukumseri minus 6.2 degrees Celsius and Kalpa recorded minus 3.0 degrees Celsius. Snowfall in some areas, including Kedarnath in Uttarakhand, has covered the mountains in a white sheet. In Munsyari, the Himalayan peaks, blackened by prolonged absence of snowfall, are now covered in a white blanket of snow.
