Ranchi: The countdown for municipal elections in Jharkhand has started. The probable date of voting is believed to be between 26th February to 2nd March. The next day of voting will be reserved for re-poll, while counting of votes will take place 2-3 days later.
Votes for mayor-ward councilor will be cast in the same box: Votes for Mayor-President and Ward Councilor will be cast in the same ballot box. The ballot paper of Mayor and Chairman will be pink in colour, while the ballot paper of Ward Councilor will be white in colour. Both the votes will be sorted separately in the order for counting, then the counting will begin.
Election of Mayor-Chairman after 15-22 days: Elections for Municipal Corporation Mayor and Municipal Council-Nagar Panchayat President will be held within 15 to 22 days of counting of votes. Only elected ward councilors will cast their votes in this. First he will be sworn in, then elections will be held.
