New Delhi 11 January 2026: Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said that early this morning they had detected Chinese military activity around the island. Three Chinese military aircraft and six naval ships were spotted near Taiwan, with one aircraft crossing the median line and entering Taiwan’s southwestern air defense zone. Taiwan said it had observed the situation and responded.

Taiwanese President Lai Ching-tai reaffirmed his commitment to Taiwan’s security, saying he will not allow Chinese pressure to extend to the island. He said China’s actions prove that Beijing’s authority does not extend to Taiwan.
