Nicola Carey wreaked havoc, destroyed Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt in one over.

In the third match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 on Saturday, January 10, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Australian bowler Nicola Carey bowled a spell which did not give Delhi Capitals a chance to recover. Carey gave two big blows in the same over and pushed the Delhi team on the back foot while chasing the target.

Australian fast bowler Nicola Carey, who was bowling the fifth over of Delhi’s innings, clean bowled Shefali Verma on the first 8 runs. On a seam-up ball bowled around the off stump, Shefali missed her attempt to play forward and the ball went straight into the stumps. Due to this shock, the beginning of Delhi was completely spoiled.

The team had not even recovered from Shefali’s dismissal when on the last ball of the over, Kerry dismissed Lora Wolvaardt for 9 runs. This ball was also almost the same. A little fuller, swinging inwards. Wolvaert could not hit the line properly and the ball flew past the stumps. Two clean bowled wickets in the same over further strengthened the dominance of Mumbai Indians.

Talking about the match, before this Mumbai Indians scored a big score of 195 runs thanks to the brilliant innings of captain Harmanpreet Kaur (74) and Nat Sciver Brunt (70). In reply, Delhi Capitals team was seen faltering from the beginning. Although Chinelle Henry played a struggling inning of 56 runs in 33 balls, she did not get support from the other end and the entire team was reduced to 145 runs in 19 overs.

In bowling for Mumbai Indians, Nicola Carey and Amelia Kerr took 3 wickets each. Nat Sciver Brunt got 2 wickets, while Sanskriti Gupta and Shabnim Ismail took 1 wicket each. As a result, Mumbai Indians made a strong comeback in the tournament by winning by 50 runs.
