In India, the first name that comes to mind is electric scooter Ola Electric of Ola has taken electric scooters to a new level. Not only this, they also launched electric bikes in the market. However, gradually other auto companies also introduced their electric bikes in the market and consumers started to ignore Ola Electric. A sales report has just been submitted. India’s electric two-wheeler market has closed in Calendar Year 2025 with strength. According to retail sales data, total sales of 12.8 lakh units were recorded during this period, while in Calendar Year 2024, the sales stood at 11.49 lakh units. That is, the market has increased by 11.36 percent on an annual basis.

TVS and Bajaj became the true market leaders

TVS Motor Company has taken the lead in the electric two-wheeler segment in Calendar Year 2025. The company has sold 2,98,881 units during the year, which is 35.35% more than the sales in Calendar Year 2024.

Bajaj Auto remained at the second position. Bajaj registered a YoY growth of 39.34 percent, selling 2,69,847 units. The strong performance of both TVS and Bajaj shows that consumer confidence is now shifting towards brands that already have strong service networks, product reliability and brand value.

Ather’s powerful leap, Ola gets a big shock

Calendar Year 2025 turned out to be one of the best years ever for Ather Energy. The company sold 2,00,797 units, representing a YoY growth of 58.91 percent. This growth is mainly due to strong demand for the 450 and Rizta range.

But on the contrary, 2025 turned out to be a challenging year for Ola Electric. The company’s sales fell to 1,99,318 units in Calendar Year 2024 from 4,07,700 units. That is, a drop of 51.11 percent has been recorded on annual basis. This decline clearly points to increasing competition and changing consumer preferences.
