Preparation to appear before CBI in Vijay Karur stampede case

TVK chief and actor Vijay Karur is set to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi in the stampede tragedy case. This incident took place on September 27 last year, in which 41 people lost their lives. This stampede is considered one of the most serious incidents in the political history of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay left for Delhi on Monday to appear before the CBI in connection with the Karur stampede case investigation. His party has requested the police to make arrangements for his security in the national capital.

Vijay was issued summons for questioning by the CBI and will appear at the CBI headquarters. According to party sources, he left Chennai at seven in the morning in a chartered flight. TVK leader Aadhav Arjun is also with him.

Officials said that CBI has given notice to Vijay to appear at the CBI headquarters in Delhi on January 12 for questioning in the Karur stampede case.

CBI has also interrogated many TVK officials in this case. Following the Supreme Court order, the CBI took over the case and are now collecting evidence related to the stampede that took place during Vijay’s public meeting on September 27, 2025 in Karur, Tamil Nadu. 41 people died and more than 60 were injured in this incident.
