Bangladesh matches in Pakistan? PCB offers to become alternative host amid Mustafizur Rahman controversy

A new controversy has emerged regarding the venues of the T20 World Cup to be held in 2026. Amid growing differences between India and Bangladesh, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) on this issue. The board, under the leadership of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, has presented Pakistan as an alternative host as a possible solution.

According to Pakistani media reports, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCC) has clearly indicated that it will not send its team to India for the T20 World Cup. BCC says that considering the current situation, there are serious concerns regarding the safety of the players. For this reason the board has decided to refuse to tour India.

Pakistan expressed its desire to host

After Bangladesh’s refusal to come to India, PCB has informed ICC that it is ready to host Bangladesh’s matches if needed. According to media reports, PCB has put forward the stadiums of Pakistan as an alternative option.

Sources say that Pakistan has also made it clear that if suitable venues are not available in Sri Lanka, then Bangladesh’s matches can be held in Pakistan. However, no official announcement has been made yet by ICC or PCB on this entire matter.

Controversy related to IPL also became the reason

The whole controversy started after a decision related to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had bought Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.2 crore in the mini auction, but despite this he was dropped from the team for the 2026 season. After this decision, Bangladesh banned the telecast of IPL. This is the first time that IPL has been banned from broadcasting in Bangladesh since its inception in 2008.

Big challenge before ICC

This development related to India, Bangladesh and Pakistan has created a new challenge before the ICC. For successful organization of the tournament, ICC will now have to negotiate with all parties and find a balanced and safe solution. The eyes of the cricket world are fixed on what decision will be taken on this issue in the coming days.
