Man steals $83,000 Rolex from Hong Kong shop, hunted by police

Police in Hong Kong are searching for a man who stole a Rolex watch worth HK$650,000 (US$83,380) from a luxury shop in the city’s Tsim Sha Tsui shopping district.

The incident happened on Sunday after a man asked to inspect a Rolex at Prince Jewellery & Watch on Haiphong Road, the South China Morning Post reported.

Moments later, he seized the watch and fled the shop, heading toward Exit C of MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station, according to Dimsum Daily.

Staff members attempted to pursue him but lost track of the suspect and subsequently contacted the police.

Officers received the call at around 12:45 p.m. and searched the surrounding area but could not locate the suspect.

The Standard reported that the man is a mainland Chinese in his 40s. He was wearing a black top, dark trousers and a white mask, and was carrying a light-colored backpack.
