‘Cut my legs, I am coming to Mumbai’, Annamalai hits back at Raj Thackeray’s threat, political storm in Maharashtra

BJP leader K while talking to media in Chennai. Annamalai issued a direct challenge to MNS chief Raj Thackeray and his workers. Annamalai said, ‘I will definitely come to Mumbai. If you have the courage, show me your leg by cutting it off.’ He questioned in strong words that who is Aditya Thackeray or Raj Thackeray who threatened him?

Annamalai proudly described himself as a farmer’s son and clarified that he is not the person to bow down to such threats. He termed the protests and statements of MNS as full of complete ignorance.

How did the controversy start?

This entire controversy started when Raj Thackeray raised the issue of ‘Rasmalai’ against Annamalai. Had made the comment. After this, the anger of MNS workers flared up and they warned that if Annamalai comes to Mumbai, his legs will be cut off. Taking a dig at these actions, Annamalai said that special meetings are being organized against him only to abuse him, which shows that his importance is increasing. He said that if he was afraid, he would have stayed in his village, but he would not shy away from coming to a global city like Mumbai.

BJP’s counterattack on Adani issue

The political conflict was not limited to personal statements only. Taking aim at Gautam Adani, Raj Thackeray showed a map and claimed that only one businessman has become rich in the last decade. On this, BJP Mumbai chief Amit Satam shared an old picture of Raj Thackeray with Adani on social media. Satam called it ‘the height of hypocrisy&8217; told. BJP argues that on one hand Raj Thackeray meets Adani and on the other hand he accuses him for political gains.

The argument of Marathi identity versus global Mumbai

In his clarification, Annamalai said that his statements were being misinterpreted. He argued that calling Mumbai a world-class city is in no way to negate the contribution of Marathi people. Giving an example, he said that just as calling Kamaraj a great leader of India does not affect his Tamil identity, similarly praising Mumbai is not against any language or culture. In view of the upcoming BMC elections (BMC Polls), this controversy is being considered very important from the political point of view.
