Irfan Pathan gave new name ‘VCK’ to Virat Kohli, know the special reason behind it

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has given Virat Kohli a new name after seeing his brilliant performance. Kohli, who played an excellent inning of 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand, was adjudged the Player of the Match, even though he missed a century, his bat once again played reliably.

This form of Kohli is not the story of just one match, but he has been scoring runs continuously in the last several matches. His consistency has surprised even the cricket experts and in this context, Irfan Pathan has given him the title of ‘Virat Consistent Kohli’ i.e. VCK.

Achievement of seven consecutive fifty-plus scores

Virat Kohli may have fallen short of a century by scoring 93 runs against New Zealand, but this was his seventh consecutive fifty-plus score in ODI cricket. These seven innings include three centuries and four half-centuries. These also include two One Day International centuries and one Vijay Hazare Trophy century.

Kohli’s run-flow started from Australia

This brilliant streak of Kohli started from the third ODI against Australia, where he played an unbeaten inning of 74 runs. After this, in the home series against South Africa, he scored 135 runs in the first ODI, 102 runs in the second and 65 not out in the third. He also played innings of 131 and 77 runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Now he has further strengthened his consistency by adding 93 runs against New Zealand.

Why did Irfan Pathan give the name of VCK?

On his YouTube channel, Irfan Pathan said that the way Virat Kohli is batting, we can call him ‘Virat Consistent Kohli’. In the last 7 innings he has scored 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries. In the first ODI, he missed a century by a very small margin and now he has completed 28 thousand runs in international cricket. He is now behind only Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli should be praised for how he is teaching his innings and how at the age of 37, he is coming out and batting regularly.

What is the real reason for continuity?

Irfan Pathan described Kohli’s technique as the biggest basis of his success. He said that when a batsman steps out regularly, a lot of things can go wrong. But Kohli’s head position is strong and this shows how strong his technique is. Your core should be strong only then the batter can step out and play those kind of big shots.

He further said that Kohli played aggressively in the beginning and hit 6 boundaries in the first 20 balls, but after getting settled, he changed his approach.

Initially he played aggressively but after getting settled, he hit only 1 boundary in the next 50 balls. It’s great to see his approach and how he’s getting better.

More matches, more runs expected

Pathan also said that if the series is long or a triangular series is played, then Kohli’s international runs can increase further. According to him, Kohli is currently in such form that big innings can be expected from him in every match.
