The matter of Bangladesh T20 World Cup match is between ICC and BCB: BCCI
Mumbai, 12 January 2026 : Controversy has arisen regarding the venue before the next T20 World Cup 2026. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), feeling hesitant about playing in India due to security reasons, has written a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) demanding a change of venue. Now an important statement of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devjit Saikia has come to light in this matter.
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has clarified that the Board has not yet received any order regarding shifting of Bangladesh matches to other places. He said, “We do not have any update on whether the Bangladesh match will be shifted to any other venue other than Chennai or not. This matter is between ICC and BCB as ICC is the main governing body. If ICC informs us about the change of venue, then as the host country we will take necessary steps.”
Bangladesh Cricket Board had earlier demanded that their matches be shifted to Sri Lanka. However, according to recent reports, ICC may propose to hold Bangladesh matches in Chennai and Trivandrum instead of Mumbai and Kolkata. According to the current schedule, Bangladesh team is in Group-C and their league matches are to be played in Mumbai and Kolkata.
