New impetus to India-Germany strategic partnership: Delegation level talks between PM Modi and German Chancellor Merz

Gandhinagar, 12 January. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held delegation-level talks on Monday at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar. In this meeting, special emphasis was laid on further strengthening India-Germany cooperation.

25 Year old strategic partnership reviewed

The meeting was organized with the aim of reviewing the progress of the 25 year old strategic partnership between India and Germany and taking forward cooperation in various fields. Both the leaders shared their views on taking the partnership to new heights.

Business, Focus on many areas including technology and education

During the meeting, there was a detailed discussion between Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz on increasing cooperation in areas like trade and investment, technology, education, skills and mobility. Apart from this, it was also agreed to further strengthen the partnership in important areas like defense and security, science, research, green and sustainable development and people-to-people ties.

Both the leaders were also seen together in the Kite Festival

Earlier in the day, PM Modi and German Chancellor Merz attended the ‘International Kite Festival’ organized at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. Both the leaders were welcomed at the venue wearing traditional Gujarati scarves and in a festive atmosphere.

Tribute paid to Mahatma Gandhi in Sabarmati Ashram

After this, PM Modi and Chancellor Marj reached Sabarmati Ashram, where they paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The two leaders visited an exhibition on Gandhi’s life and legacy, while the German Chancellor also recorded his views in the visitors’ book.

India-Germany relations get new strength

This meeting of Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Merz is being seen as an effort to deepen India-Germany relations, give a new direction to strategic cooperation and promote cultural exchange.
