BMC Elections: Raj Thackeray’s street raid politics once again spews poison!
Elections for 29 municipal bodies including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are going to be held in Maharashtra on January 15. A joint rally held in Mumbai amid the election atmosphere has created a stir in political circles.
On January 11, at Shivtirth Maidan in Dadar, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray made sharp statements regarding people coming from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, which sparked a new controversy. In this rally, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was also seen sharing the stage with Raj Thackeray.
Addressing party workers ahead of the BMC elections, Raj Thackeray called for Marathi unity and talked about the threat to Maharashtra’s language, land and identity. He alleged that people coming from outside states are trying to impose Hindi on Maharashtra.
Giving a stern warning from the stage, Raj Thackeray said that he does not hate any language, but if an attempt is made to impose Hindi in Maharashtra, he will oppose it. He even said that he would “kick out” those who made such attempts, making the statement even more controversial.
Raj Thackeray said that people coming from UP-Bihar should understand that Hindi is not the language of Maharashtra. He claimed that outsiders are coming to the state and snatching away the rights of the local people. He warned that if Marathi people lose their land and language, their very existence will be in danger.
Terming this BMC election as “the last election of Marathi manush”, the MNS chief appealed to the public to unite. He said that if there is a mistake this time, the battle of Mumbai may have to be lost forever.
At the joint rally, Uddhav Thackeray attacked the BJP, calling it a symbol of “fake Hindutva”. He said that due to the threat looming over Mumbai, he and Raj Thackeray have formed a political alliance again. Uddhav alleged that the BJP is doing politics in the name of nationalism and Hindutva, while giving priority to corruption.
