The Commission has clarified that regular or already pending benefits can be given under the scheme, but there will be a ban on giving the amount in advance for the month of January. After this decision the politics of the state has heated up.
Ruling party counterattacks after Election Commission’s decision
After the decision of the State Election Commission, BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) have launched a scathing attack on the opposition. The ruling leaders allege that the opposition has been trying to obstruct the ‘Ladki Behan’ scheme from the very beginning.
He says that the opposition does not want women to get financial help and stoves to burn in their homes. The leaders claim that the Ladki sisters have now understood why they are not getting the money on time, and they will answer this through voting.
Why was clarification sought on the government’s decision?
In fact, recently it was reported that before Makar Sankranti, by January 14, Rs 3000, including December and January installments, will be deposited in the accounts of Ladki sisters.
Based on these reports, the State Election Commission received many complaints. Complaints alleged that advance payment in an election environment could be a violation of the code of conduct. After this the Commission asked the government to clarify its position on the entire matter.
Clear ban on advance payment
In the report given by the Chief Secretary, it was told that consolidated orders related to the model code of conduct were issued for the general elections of local self-government bodies on 4 November 2025.
According to these orders… the schemes started before the elections can continue. But advance payment is not allowed. New beneficiaries cannot be selected during the period of code of conduct. On this basis, the Commission banned giving advance amount for January.
