Delhi is colder than Shimla! IMD’s red alert, know how the weather will be in the next 3 days?
New Delhi: This time the cold in North India has destroyed all the old records. The situation has become such that the cold of the plain cities is now defeating even the famous hill stations. In many areas, a white layer of snow is visible on the grass and vehicles in the morning, while the mercury has reached close to zero. In view of this unusual situation, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe cold wave for many states. ‘Red Alert’ Has been issued and people have been advised not to leave the house without any need.
People will tremble in these states, red and orange alert issued
According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, the torture of shivering cold will continue in the states of North and West India for the coming few days. A ‘severe cold wave’ situation is prevailing in some parts of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and western Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, cold wave is also expected in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat. People of Jharkhand are also not expected to get relief from this severe cold till Thursday.
Speed slowed down due to white blanket of fog
Along with cold, dense fog has also disrupted life. There has been a warning of ‘extremely dense fog’ in Uttar Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. Visibility is likely to be near zero in the morning in states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir. This is directly impacting road, rail and air traffic, due to which many trains and flights are getting delayed.
Grounds cooled by mountains: Delhi vs Shimla
A very strange weather trend is being seen this year. The plains of Delhi and Rajasthan have become much colder than the hilly places like Shimla and Manali. While the minimum temperature in Shimla is being recorded around 9°C, the mercury in Delhi has dropped to 3 to 4°C. In Fatehpur and Shekhawati of Rajasthan, the mercury has gone into minus, due to which frost has formed on the crops in the fields.
Now rain will increase the problem, alert for 13-15 January
On one hand, North India is shivering with cold, while on the other hand, rain is about to enter. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh of South India between 13 and 15 January. At the same time, due to the activation of a new Western Disturbance, there may be snowfall in the mountains and drizzle in the plains of North India including Delhi-NCR, which will further increase the chill.
What to do for protection?
Severe cold and frost are dangerous not only for health but also for crops. Doctors are advising to wear several layers of woolen clothes to keep the body warm. To protect crops from frost, farmers should resort to light irrigation in the evening. While lighting the fireplace in closed rooms, take special care of ventilation so that accidents like suffocation do not occur.
